1ST GRADE VETERANS PROGRAM

The Gilmour Elementary School 1st graders had their “Very Patriotic Program” today, November 7th in honor of Veterans Day. The program started out with Presidents of the United States past cracking patriotic and America-themed jokes. The students then began their program with songs, pausing for funny and history-based speaking parts in between each song. Once all the songs were sung, Kingfisher High School Band Director Mandy Owens performed Taps on the trumpet and audience members took a moment of silence to remember those who have served and since passed. The students then honored their military guests by presenting flags of each branch during the Armed Forces Salute. Service members stood as their branch’s song was played. The students also had a memoriam of sorts set up in the lobby area of the Heritage Auditorium to honor and thank their family members and friends that have served this great country. The program was very touching, heartfelt and special. If these students are the future of our great nation, then we’re all in good hands! Photos by AAK Maitland Pickle.
