On Friday, January 10th, Hannah Johnson and Brailyn Schroeder, Kingfisher Junior High 7th graders, and Gisselle Ponce and Shilo Willingham, Kingfisher High School 9th graders, went to the Oklahoma Choral Directors All-State Festival. These students competed in two rounds to earn a seat in this prestigious choir for 7th-9th grade singers. In round one they competed against students north of I-40 and west of I-35 to advance to round two. The top 30 scores of each voice part advance to round two where they compete against the top three from the other three regions. From round two the top 30 scores are selected to be in the Mixed Choir. All four Kingfisher girls made the Mixed Choir (which are male and female singers). There was a total of 216 members in the Mixed Choir.
The students worked with guest conductor Raul Dominguez Associate Director of Choral Studies at Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) in Tacoma, Washington where he leads their Chorale, University Singers, assists Choral Union, and teaches courses in Secondary.
They gave a final performance at the Oklahoma City Convention Center on January 11.
