Alan Ross Harzman, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of his community, passed away peacefully at home on May 28, 2025, at the age of 74.
Alan was born in Kingman, KS, on July 27, 1950, to Frederick “Bud” and Irene Harzman. His early life was shaped by strong family values and a deep sense of community, which he carried with him throughout his life. A proud graduate of Kingfisher High School Class of 1968, Alan built his life in Kingfisher, where his roots grew deep.
On February 27, 1971, Alan married his high school sweetheart, Kay Goodwin. Their marriage was a testament to unconditional love and partnership that lasted more than five decades. Together, they raised their children in Kingfisher, where Alan was a beloved coach, neighbor, and friend to many.
Alan dedicated much of his working life to the oilfield industry, operating Rockin’H Oilfield Service Company alongside his father, Bud. In later years, he became the proud owner of the historic 89’er Theater and the Cinema Video store in Kingfisher, cherished community staples until their closure. Never one to be deterred by change, Alan began a new career in information technology in 2006 and faithfully served Oklahoma County until his retirement in December 2024.
Alan’s faith in the Lord was strong and unwavering. He lived a life of faith and service, fully assured in the knowledge that Jesus Christ was his personal Savior. His deep commitment to his beliefs guided every aspect of his life.
He was a confirmed member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher for both children and adults and as an Elder. Later, he became a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Watonga, where he continued his ministry by serving faithfully as both an Elder and a Sunday school teacher. His leadership, quiet strength, and scriptural wisdom were blessings to both congregations and to all who were privileged to know him.
Alan is survived by his wife, Kay, loving mother, Irene Harzman of Kingfisher; his sister, Vienna Lewis of Woodward; daughter Alana Weaver and her husband James of Lindale, TX; son Dirk Harzman and his wife Kirby of Oklahoma City; and his cherished grandson, Heath William Harzman of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by his Brother-in-Law, Dr. Gene Yost of Crescent; Uncle Kip and Aunt Margaret Harzman of Wimauma, FL; Aunt Candy Detwiler of Valley Center, KS; Aunt Jean Mai of Russell, KS. and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom deeply adored their Uncle Alan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick “Bud” Harzman, his beloved sister, Chris Yost, and Brother-in-Law, Gene Lewis.
Alan will be remembered for his steady presence, his generous heart, his dedication to his family and community, and most of all, for his enduring faith in Jesus Christ. His legacy of kindness, service, and spiritual strength will continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing him. A private family service will be held at a later date.
