Chisholm Trail Technology Center (CTTC) has secured a grant from the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education to conduct a 19-week training program to expand broadband services throughout Western Oklahoma. Over the next year, hundreds of employees will receive specialized training focusing on skills necessary for broadband installation and safety in the telecommunications field.
Mike Sanders, executive director of the Oklahoma Broadband Office stopped by CTTC on Wednesday, December 11th. He visited with the class about their training in this new program led by instructor Steve Sexton.
This comprehensive program covers key areas such as industry safety standards, equipment uses, fiber optics, and rescue operations. Employees will also receive hands-on training in trenching, shoring, bucket truck safety, and confined space operations. These skills are vital for ensuring the safe and efficient installation of broadband infrastructure, which will benefit rural communities by providing improved access to high-speed internet.
