Wednesday, January 15th through Saturday, January 18th the Oklahoma Music Educators hosted Children’s All-State and High School All-State. 6th graders Elizabeth Click and Natalie Grunke, and 7th grader Evelyn Martin auditioned against over 400 students to earn a seat in this choir of 125.
The Children’s All-State audition process involves recording an a cappella song, a harmony exercise and a warm up exercise. Once these are recorded they are submitted and judged using a score sheet. Children’s All-State began rehearsals on Wednesday January 15 with clinician McKenna Stenson. Ms. Stenson serves on the faculty of Florida State University where she teaches courses in graduate and undergraduate choral techniques and conducts Levana, an advanced treble ensemble.
The Children’s All-State Choir ended their week on Friday, January 17 in concert at the Cox Convention Center in Tulsa. Information provided by Diann Magnus.
