Highway 81 just north of Dover was closed for more than three hours early this morning following a series of crashes involving cattle.
According to reports, the incidents began when a vehicle struck a cow and then collided with a utility pole. Shortly after, a semi-truck struck additional cattle, overturned, and spilled a load of sand onto the roadway. A box truck later collided with the overturned semi.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol closed the highway around 4:30 a.m. One southbound lane was reopened at approximately 5 a.m., but the scene was not fully cleared until about 7:45 a.m.
M6 Wrecker Service assisted in recovering the vehicles and clearing the roadway.
Officials have not released information regarding those involved or whether any injuries occurred.
