I love gems and jewels on my fingers and wrists in particular. However, I also like gems on my list of preferred dining establishments. I found another one today: Sparky’s Eatery at 100 NorthMain Street in Hennessey, Oklahoma, of all places.
About noontime, I felt a bit peckish and made my way to Sparky’s for a luncheon repast. I madea good decision. Greeted warmly upon entering the establishment, I decided to have asandwich and a glass of unsweetened tea.
The menu board offered many yummy options, including pizzas, wraps, salads, burritos, snacks, sandwiches, bowls, burgers, and breakfast items, like omelets and biscuits, and gravy.Thirsty guests can order from a panoply of coffees, smoothies, and energy drinks, too. And, of course, guests must at least look at the tasty desserts and sweet treats available, like cinnamonrolls, bars, muffins, and cookies-all fresh and presented professionally. Sparky’s offers it all.
I chose an exotic-sounding sandwich, the Berry Cheesy Affair, which arrived at my table on ablack plate; the sandwich looked delicious and tasted even ” delicious-er.” Generously madewith loads of turkey, mozzarella, blackberry jam, cream cheese, and candied jalapenos on white, toasted bread, my sandwich was warm, thick, fragrant, and certainly appetizing. It sat right alongside a portion of pasta salad made with rotini pasta in a tasty, thick sauce made with mayo, garlic,
cranberries, paprika, salt, pepper, pimiento bits, and brown sugar. I’m not a traditional pasta salad lover, but this pasta salad was superb, delish! I often don’t eat a full sandwich either, but I ate all of this one. I just couldn’t stop. The combination of the unexpected ingredients really hitthe spot and melded together to make a very unique lunch. I enjoyed the cold, freshly brewediced tea
too, as it really hit the spot on a warm, windy September day.
Others felt like I did, and as I sat there relishing my meal and looking at the traffic passing by,additional hungry guests entered and examined the list of tasty options and ordered something too. I would have no qualms about ordering anything on Sparky’s menu. All items are made with fresh ingredients-right there in the Mercantile on Main Street-by a super and creative cook and promoters.
If you have a hankering for a tasty breakfast or lunch, I suggest that you head on over to Sparky’s and order anything from the myriad of choices. I bet that you’ll discover a gem thatyou’ll want to enjoy over and over again.
If you go to Sparky’s, you’ll have to look at the eclectic Mercantile merchandise and thearchitectural points of the old C. R. Anthony Store at the traffic light in Hennessey. It really is a magical place with great food and a friendly staff. It’s a gem, alright, a real diamond! I’ll be back and soon, and I bet I’ll meet you there!
