The Southwest Power Pool, the regional electric transmission provider for the region to include the State of Oklahoma, has issued an Emergency Energy Alert Level 1 and is request all customers to reduce their energy consumption.
The SPP is reliant on renewable energies, but windmills have been shut down due to blade icing from the weather this week, and solar is in limited production due to the overcast skies. Many cola fired electric plants have been shut down, and all production is relying on natural gas fired electric plants. Natural gas is in short supply due to the increased demand for heating.
Kingfisher Electric is generating to push power into the market due to energy shortages. Due to pack of natural gas availability, we are running on diesel.
