The Kingfisher Airport was buzzing with excitement on Saturday, September 20, as families gathered for a free community aviation day filled with food, fun, and flying memories.
Visitors enjoyed hamburgers while getting an up-close look at a variety of planes, some steeped in history and others showcasing modern aviation. Pilots mingled with the crowd, sharing flying stories, answering questions, and even handing out stickers to children.
The event drew plenty of reminiscing from longtime aviation enthusiasts, while newcomers marveled at the chance to get close to the aircraft and talk with those who fly them. “It’s all about bringing people together and sharing the joy of aviation,” said Gary Grubbs, president of the new museum, who noted that official operating hours for the museum will be announced soon.
