Hundreds of students from schools across the region gathered at Kingfisher High School today, Saturday, February 07, for the 2025–2026 FIRST Tech Challenge robotics season, themed “DECODE.”
The event featured teams made up of students in grades 7–12, all competing in a fast-paced robotics challenge that blends engineering, programming, and teamwork. Each team designed, built, and programmed its own robot to complete a series of tasks during timed matches, including autonomous operation, driver-controlled maneuvers, and collecting and launching balls into scoring goals.
Throughout the day, the gym buzzed with activity as robots zipped across the field, teams made last-minute adjustments, and students collaborated to solve problems on the fly.
The competition emphasizes STEM education, critical thinking, and innovation, giving students hands-on experience in real-world engineering concepts while encouraging collaboration and creativity.
The FTC program continues to grow in popularity, providing students with opportunities to develop technical skills and gain confidence through competitive, team-based learning.
