Garett Josef Wittrock entered this world perfectly on April 26, 2002, and returned to God’s loving embrace on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025 — his very favorite holiday. Leaving behind the love of his life, Dejanna Harjo, and precious daughter, Aurora Layne. He was the treasured son of Sonya and Logan Toepfer of Kingfisher, and Jason and Dawn Wittrock of Okarche.
Garett attended Holy Trinity Catholic School through the 6th grade before moving to Okarche Public Schools. During his junior year, he decided he wanted to finish his high school career at Kingfisher in order to play football his senior year. He proudly graduated from Kingfisher High School in May of 2020.
Garett loved nearly every sport and excelled at basketball, soccer, and football. He enjoyed lake days, fishing, riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers, bonfires, and occasionally hunting. He loved Thunder basketball, great comedians, gaming, and music—and he had an uncanny gift for finding songs with the most meaningful lyrics. Sharing those songs with family was one of his favorite things. Garett also loved a good challenge, often returning home with scrapes and cuts to prove he had accepted the dare.
Some of his happiest moments were spent with his grandpa and papaw on their farms. He enjoyed the work, the laughter, and the storytelling most of all—always coming home with new tales to share, even if the longhorns were never his favorite cattle to work with.
After graduation, Garett was thrilled to begin work as an iodine technician, drilling for iodine and suiting up hazmat-style in the lab. His days resulted in raw, medical-grade iodine—material that would go on to support medical care for countless people. He took pride in the purpose behind the job.
In May of 2020, Garett met the love of his life, Dejanna Harjo. He was so smitten that he chased her for months until she finally agreed to a date. After three beautiful years together, they learned in September of 2023 that they were expecting a precious gift. On April 2, 2024, their daughter, Aurora Layne Harjo-Wittrock, was born. Garett was endlessly proud of his baby girl. No matter how tired he was after long shifts, he always found the strength to cuddle his little angel—his favorite time of day.
On June 23, 2024, Garett suffered a life-changing injury, becoming an incomplete quadriplegic after an accident. He spent four challenging months in rehab and therapy at Craig Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. Even through the difficulty, Garett kept his smile bright, his humor sharp, and his determination unwavering. He completed the Craig program on November 1, 2024, and made the long-awaited trip home for the first time since June.
Adjusting to a drastically changed life brought new challenges, but Garett faced them with courage. He deeply cherished those who visited, helped care for him, dropped off meals, or called to check in. He never stopped reminding his family how much he appreciated everything they did for him. His heart was truly grateful.
Garett was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Gene and Delores Thompson, Lawrence and Elizabeth Reherman, Joe Long, Lawrence Wittrock, JoAnn Wittrock-Erwin, Gene Erwin, Carla Fairbank, and Paul and Dorothy Toepfer.
He is survived by his loving parents, Sonya and Logan Toepfer of Kingfisher, and Jason and Dawn Wittrock of Okarche; his siblings, Macy Kelly and husband Andrew of Kingfisher, Noah Wittrock of Oklahoma City, Brenden Toepfer of Kingfisher, Lilia McAlvain of Yukon, Braxten Toepfer of Kingfisher, and Samuel Wittrock of Okarche; his niece, Everleigh Kelly; nephews, Emmett and Ellis Kelly; grandparents, Fred and Rhonda Reherman of Kingfisher, Joe and Dannette Wittrock of Okarche, David and Cyndi Fairbank of Vail, AZ, Tim and Tammy Toepfer of Neosho, MO, and Arlo and Cynthia Bohlman of Kingfisher; great-grandparents, Nola Long and Avery and Edna Eeds; and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
