Kayla Broomfield was hospitalized in the early morning hours of February 28th after experiencing severe hemorrhaging at home. Doctors determined the cause to be a placental abruption, a serious condition in which the placenta partially detaches from the uterine wall. At the time, Kayla Broomfield was approximately 26 weeks pregnant. This is her first pregnancy to experience complications.
Due to the risk of full placental detachment and the family’s distance from the hospital, Kayla Broomfield has remained under close monitoring. She has now reached 28 weeks of pregnancy and continues to receive weekly ultrasounds and regular NICU consultations. The family is preparing for the possibility of a premature delivery, which may include a NICU stay for the baby depending on gestational age at birth. Medical providers are cautiously optimistic that the pregnancy could reach 32–34 weeks, though the situation remains high risk.
Her care is further complicated by the need for daily blood thinners, recently restarted due to a blood clot in her arm, requiring careful management to protect both her health and the placenta.
Jhett and Kayla Broomfield are parents to four other children. Kayla Broomfield is a stay-at-home parent, and Jhett Broomfield works as the general sales manager at Jackson’s of Kingfisher. Family members are assisting with childcare and meals while Kayla remains hospitalized.
To help the family during this difficult time, the Kingfisher Action Team has established a dedicated donation fund through Equity Bank to support the Broomfield Family’s immediate needs. Whether donating cash or check, please be sure to indicate that the donation is for the Broomfield Family.
Please keep the Broomfield Family and baby Jeremiah in your prayers.
