Fire crews were called at approximately 2:15 p.m. to a large grass fire near Highway 33 and N 2830 Road, with initial reports of a possible swather on fire.
Responding agencies included Kingfisher, Omega and Loyal fire departments, the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, the Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office, and Kingfisher County District No. 1, which responded with a water truck and dozer.
Kingfisher County Emergency Management reported that the dozer is cutting a path to help firefighters gain better access to the fire.
The extreme heat is also taking a toll on crews. Kingfisher Fire Department EMS has treated five firefighters for heat-related issues.
Wheeler Brothers also assisted firefighting efforts by providing a water tanker.
With high temperatures and extremely dry conditions, fire danger remains elevated across the area.
