Each spring, the Kingfisher County Retired Educators Association (KCREA) awards a scholarship to a graduating student of Kingfisher County who is majoring in education and getting ready to undertake their student-teaching. This year, 2020 Kingfisher graduate Jaelle Farrell met the criteria. The daughter of James and Jennifer Farrell, Jaelle is studying to become an elementary teacher at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She explained that she chose this career path to “make an impact on the next generation. I was raised with amazing teachers in my life and I wanted to be that for my own students.” She expressed her appreciation for receiving this scholarship, saying it would help her acquire the tools and supplies needed for her future classroom and allow her to concentrate on her student teaching. Post-graduation she plans on teaching near Kingfisher while simultaneously working towards her Master’s in Reading Specialist. In closing, she expressed how honored she was to be chosen as a representative for aspiring educators from Kingfisher County.
