On Friday, October 28th, a major power outage had Kingfisher in the dark. Around 7 pm, the Dover Fire Department was dispatched to a transformer fire near the intersection of N2850 and 680 north of Dover. Dover firefighters said it was a small fire that burned the pole and some grass. The power line was the main transmission feed for the Kingfisher area. When it failed, it took out all of the electricity for the City.
According to their Facebook page Kingfisher City officials, OG&E, and the Municipal Power Authority worked on solutions that included trying to feed the power from the south. OG&E crews worked into the night to make the repairs and restored power around midnight.
Pioneer Internet was disrupted for a short time and the Kingfisher Sr night and football game were rescheduled for Saturday
