With the recent vandalism that occurred at Newfield Park restrooms. And some damage that has been reported at Oklahoma Park the police chief finds the need to remind newcomers to our community and some that may have just forgotten. All Parks within the City limits including: Oklahoma Park, Shaw Park, Briscoe Sports Complex and the most recent Newfield Park are all closed by city ordinance
8-2-1: CURFEW FOR PARK:
A. Curfew Hours: A curfew is hereby established for all city parks. The curfew hours are hereby established as after eleven o’clock (11:00) P.M., the same to be closed, and the same to be opened at six o’clock (6:00) A.M.
And with the warmer weather approaching we must remind parents of the city’s curfew for minors’ ordinance
6-2-4: CURFEW:
A. Definition: For this section, a “minor” shall mean any person under the age of eighteen (18) years, but shall not include any person who is legally emancipated or certified as an adult.
B. Curfew Generally: No minor shall loiter, idle, wander, stroll or play in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks, playgrounds or other public grounds, public places and public buildings, places of amusement and entertainment, vacant lots or other unsupervised places, to include, but not be limited to: driving, riding or parking any motorized or nonmotorized vehicle in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks, playgrounds or other public grounds, public places and public buildings, places of amusement and entertainment, vacant lots or other unsupervised places, between the hours of eleven o’clock (11:00) P.M. and six o’clock (6:00) A.M. of the following day, of every night and morning in the week, except Friday and Saturday nights and the following morning, and between the hours of twelve o’clock (12:00) midnight Friday and Saturday nights and six o’clock (6:00) A.M. of the following morning.
There are several Exceptions to the curfew and parents are encouraged to read them located on the City’s website under the Government tab listed in Codes.
Violation of these ordinances can have the violators detained and citations issued and parents called to pickup their children.
