Kingfisher Public Schools is preparing for a change in leadership after Superintendent Andy Evans submitted his resignation during the Kingfisher Board of Education meeting on Monday evening.
The school board accepted Evans’ resignation, which is expected to become effective on September 10. Reports indicate he will remain on paid administrative leave until that date as the district begins planning for its next steps.
The resignation comes as the district continues to address financial and administrative matters that have been discussed during recent school board meetings. Monday’s meeting included conversations regarding the district’s financial situation before the board voted to accept Evans’ resignation.
Evans was appointed as interim superintendent in October 2024 after the departure of the district’s previous superintendent. He brought years of experience in public education, having served as a superintendent, principal, and school finance specialist.
With the new school year beginning, the Kingfisher Board of Education is expected to focus on maintaining stability for students, staff, and families while determining its leadership plan moving forward. Among the decisions ahead are whether to appoint an interim superintendent or begin the search for a permanent replacement.
