The Kingfisher Lady Jackets basketball are headed to state, and they did it the hard way.
In a gritty and determined postseason run, the Lady Jackets captured the Area Consolation Championship, securing their spot in the Oklahoma state tournament with a clutch win over the Berryhill Lady Pirates basketball.
The victory didn’t come easy. Like many teams fighting through the consolation side of the bracket, Kingfisher had no room for error. Every game carried a win-or-go-home level of pressure, and the Lady Jackets responded with resilience when it mattered most.
Earlier in the area round, Kingfisher battled back from a double-digit deficit to defeat Inola 46–37, showing the kind of composure and fight that defines playoff basketball. That momentum carried forward into their matchup with Berryhill, where they sealed the deal and officially punched their ticket to state.
This kind of run says a lot about a team. It speaks to depth, coaching, and the ability to stay focused when the stakes are high. The Lady Jackets proved they could handle adversity, adjust on the fly, and finish strong.
Now, with the state tournament ahead, Kingfisher carries not only momentum but confidence. Teams that survive the consolation path often arrive battle-tested, and the Lady Jackets are no exception.
For the players, coaches, and community, this moment is about more than just advancing. It’s about perseverance, pride, and earning the chance to compete on the biggest stage in Oklahoma high school basketball.
State bound and ready.
