It was another exciting signing day for Kingfisher High School as Hayes White officially signed on the morning of May 7 to continue his basketball journey with Link Academy.
For Kingfisher fans, the signing felt like the next step for an athlete who has spent the last two years doing just about everything possible in blue and gold.
Hayes has been one of those rare athletes who seems to excel no matter the sport or season. Whether it was Friday night football, basketball season, spring golf, or tennis, he consistently competed at a high level and gave Kingfisher fans plenty to cheer about.
In football, Hayes earned First Team Defensive Back honors after becoming a key part of the Yellowjackets defense. On the tennis court, he qualified for the state tournament during his junior season. This year, he added another accomplishment to the list by qualifying for the state golf tournament as well.
And then there is basketball, where Hayes truly made his mark.
This past season, he earned First Team All-Conference honors in the Western Athletic Conference after previously being named Second Team All-Conference as a junior. He also collected several postseason honors including being selected as an Oklahoma Coaches Association All-Star by class, earning Chisholm Wheat Capital All-Tournament Team honors, and being named to the CTB Sports All-Star Team.
Those awards tell part of the story, but honestly, anyone who watched Hayes compete already knew what kind of athlete he was.
He played with confidence, intensity, and a competitive edge that made him exciting to watch every time he stepped on the floor. Whether it was attacking the basket, making defensive plays, or stepping up in big moments, Hayes brought energy to every game.
His signing with Link Academy is another major opportunity in what has already been an impressive athletic journey. Known nationally for developing elite basketball talent and competing against top-level competition, Link Academy gives Hayes the chance to continue growing his game while preparing for the next level.
For Kingfisher, Hayes represented more than wins and awards. He represented versatility, work ethic, and the kind of athlete younger students look up to.
Over the last two years, he became a big part of the Kingfisher athletic community, and there is no question fans will continue following his journey as he takes this next step.
Congratulations, Hayes. Kingfisher is proud of you, and the future looks bright. Photos by AAK Maitland Woody.
