Marilyn Elizabeth Stangl of Okarche peacefully went to be with our Heavenly Father on June 29, 2024, at the age of 91, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. Marilyn was born on August 19, 1932, in Kingfisher, OK. She was the daughter of Joe and Teresa (Schaefer) Mueggenborg, of Kingfisher, OK. At the age of 16, she graduated high school from Sacred Heart Academy, in Wichita. On July 16, 1953, she married EJ Stangl, and they were blessed with 7 children, raising them on a farm NW of Okarche, where faith and family values were instilled. Marilyn was a homemaker, raising her family, teaching them patience and determination by working in the garden, milking cows, raising chickens and selling fresh eggs. Marilyn worked at Gold Bank in Kingfisher for 15 + years before retiring in 2005, treasuring the long-term friendships she established during this time.
Marilyn was a proud and beloved Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma, never missing a sporting event, band concert, or graduation ceremony. Marilyn was well known for her home-made coconut cream pie and cinnamon rolls, which she truly took pleasure in making. She loved weekend lake trips, cards & dominos, dinner & movie outings, casino trips, and traveling with Catholic church groups. Over the years, Marilyn had numerous life-long friends, and has touched the lives of many families making a positive and lasting impact on them. Marilyn was a longstanding member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Altar Society, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, in Okarche.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Andy (Tucson, AZ), Paul (Clinton, OK), Mark and Margaret (Kingfisher, OK), Joe and Marlene (Okarche, OK), Barb and James Hill (Arcadia, OK), Julie and Tony Johnson (Mustang, OK); 16 Grandchildren and 23 Great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Taylor of Shawnee, OK, Jane Smola of Stillwater, OK, Martha James of Brighton, CO, and Pat Crone of Kingston, OK and a host of other family and friends.
