A few weeks ago, I Was At The Game made a stop at Kingfisher High School to recognize Lady Jackets basketball coach Taylor Young for an impressive list of accomplishments both on the court and on the sidelines.
For Oklahoma high school sports fans, I Was At The Game has become one of the state’s most popular platforms for highlighting teams, athletes, milestones, and memorable moments across Oklahoma athletics. From football Fridays to state tournaments and even unique events like the first sanctioned state surfing championship in Hawaii, the platform shines a spotlight on athletes and coaches making an impact.
During their Kingfisher visit, Coach Young was presented with several commemorative milestone stickers recognizing major achievements throughout her basketball career.
Among the honors was induction into the #OKPreps100WinClub, recognizing her achievement of more than 100 career victories as a girls basketball coach. Since arriving at Kingfisher, Young has helped continue the tradition of Lady Jacket basketball while building a competitive and respected program.
She was also recognized as a member of the #OKPreps1500PointClub for scoring 1,912 career points during her standout playing days at Bethel High School and Shawnee High School, where she competed under her maiden name, Taylor Cooper.
In addition, Young received the IWasAtTheGame.com #IAmAStateChampion recognition for winning back-to-back state championships during her playing career, first at Bethel in 2011 and again at Shawnee in 2012.
While the stickers themselves are small, the accomplishments behind them represent years of dedication, sacrifice, long practices, film sessions, road trips, and countless hours spent working to become better as both a player and coach.
Those who know Coach Young understand that the awards and milestones only tell part of the story. Her leadership, competitiveness, and passion for the game have made a lasting impact on athletes she has coached and programs she has been part of throughout her basketball journey.
For Kingfisher, having someone with that level of experience and success leading the girls basketball program continues to be something special for both players and fans alike.
Congratulations to Coach Young on an incredible list of accomplishments and a career that continues to leave its mark on Oklahoma basketball.
