October 7th through October 9th, Gilmour, Heritage, and the Upper Elementary School students learned about fire prevention in honor of Fire Prevention Week.
To test their knowledge and refresh their memory, Kingfisher Fire Department firefighters, as well as some firefighter students, were stopped by Gilmour and Heritage in a ladder truck. The firefighters in training asked the students what to do during certain situations, showed them the proper stop, drop, and roll procedure, and then gave them a tour of the ladder truck.
Students at Upper Elementary participated in a poster contest put on by the KFD to promote Fire Prevention Week. A winner was chosen in each grade and driven to school in the ladder truck on their designated day. Photos by AAK Maitland Pickle.
The winners were:

5th- Kruz Meyer
