On June 17th, Kingfisher County was placed under a Tornado Warning. In response, Kingfisher Fire Department and Kingfisher County Emergency Management jointly agreed to activate the outdoor warning sirens for the City of Kingfisher. While Kingfisher Fire attempted multiple times to activate the sirens, they did not sound. The cause of this failure is currently unknown.
On June 18th, the City of Kingfisher’s Electrical Department inspected all sirens and confirmed that they have power. As a reminder, the sirens are routinely tested on Saturdays at noon during clear weather conditions.
The city is continuing to investigate the cause of the malfunction.
Important Reminder:
Please do not rely solely on outdoor warning sirens for emergency alerts. We strongly encourage all residents to use multiple sources for weather and emergency notifications, including NOAA weather radios, local news stations, and emergency alert apps.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to resolve this issue and ensure the continued reliability of our emergency warning system.
