On Monday morning, June 1st, around 9:20 a.m., five cyclists rolled through Kingfisher under a police escort.
They weren’t locals. They probably weren’t anyone you knew or had ever heard of.
To most people, it looked like a small group passing through town on a long ride.
What they couldn’t see was the purpose behind every mile.
These riders are part of theRide, a 2,000-mile cycling journey from Mexico to Canada created to spotlight people and communities that are often overlooked while delivering direct, meaningful support along the way.
The mission centers on three things: awareness, action, and inspiration.
Along the route, the team highlights stories that often go untold. Families facing hardship. Young adults searching for direction. People carrying challenges that may not be visible to those around them.
But theRide is about more than awareness. The team partners with local communities to create real impact in real time, meeting people where they are and providing support when it matters most.
Leading the journey is Matt King, CEO of Gobundance, husband, father, and a man committed to living a vision-driven life. He is riding all 2,000 miles from Mexico to Canada as a demonstration of the principle that leadership begins by showing up.
As Matt says:
“If we’re asking the world to show up for families in need, I’m showing up first.”
The challenge is significant. Riders spend 8 to 12 hours a day on the road, often covering up to 150 miles. Support vehicles, safety crews, content teams, and Gobundance members joining throughout the route help carry the mission forward across six states and thousands of miles.
This is more than a test of endurance.
It’s a reminder of what can happen when people choose action over indifference and responsibility over distance.
So while the cyclists passed through Kingfisher in only a matter of minutes, they were part of something much larger than a ride.
They were carrying a message:
People matter. Communities matter. And when ordinary people commit themselves to a cause greater than their own comfort, meaningful change becomes possible.
You can support theRide by making a donation or by nominating a nonprofit, organization, family, or individual who could use a little hope along the route.
