The Kingfisher City Commission has a new member. By a 3–1 vote, commissioners appointed Tammy Sammons to fill the seat vacated by Debbie Burpo, who stepped down after moving outside city limits.
Sammons was one of four applicants considered for the position, alongside Jeremie Hill, Jimmy Koehn, and Wendell Prim. Mayor Geoff Covalt, Vice Mayor Jeff Wittrock, and Commissioner Kyle Mecklenburg cast votes in her favor, while Commissioner Dawn Taylor registered the lone dissent.
Mayor Covalt praised the strong field of candidates, noting that all were highly qualified and willing to serve the community. Both Koehn and Prim brought prior commission experience to the table, underscoring the depth of civic involvement among the applicants.
With her appointment, Sammons now joins the commission in guiding city policy and addressing community needs.
