This morning, August 11th, Kingfisher High School students gathered in front of the school for the second annual flag-raising ceremony. What began as an idea from Dr. A.J. Johnson to kick off the school year has quickly grown into a tradition that celebrates camaraderie and school spirit.
Harper Evans, student body president of the Kingfisher Yellow Jackets, welcomed the crowd, noting the “good first two days” of school and sharing optimism that “the amazing year to come” will be even better. “Here’s to the best year yet—Go Jackets!” she said.
Coach Connell thanked students for a smooth start since Thursday, reminding them that each new year is an opportunity. He encouraged both the “new faces” walking the halls for the first time and the seniors starting their “last year” to embrace this fresh start, take in the experience, and make the most of it, assuring them that the staff is ready to support them.
Boys State delegates helped raise the flag as The Pride of Kingfisher band played the National Anthem, followed by the school fight song.
