Friday, January 16, a hungry crowd showed up at the Junior High Cafeteria to bid on some very overpriced pastries. Cupcakes suddenly became luxury items, brownies reached “do I really need groceries” prices, and no one complained one bit.
Why? Because it was all for a great cause.
The dessert auction doubled as a fun and lively fundraiser benefiting the school’s vocal program, helping fund the upcoming New Orleans trip, new vocal equipment, and other program essentials. Sugar was consumed, wallets were opened, and money was raised.
Between bidding wars, students took the stage for a vocal showcase, treating the audience to outstanding performances that proved these kids can sing just as well as they can inspire generous bidding. It was an evening filled with sweet treats, great music, and even sweeter support for the program.
By the end of the night, the auction raised $1,550 for the vocal class. Not bad for a room full of desserts that cost more than dinner.
