STATEMENT FROM KINGFISHER COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

STATEMENT FROM KINGFISHER COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT on Storm Siren Test (KINGFISHER, OK) – During the past two weekends, the Kingfisher Fire Department and Kingfisher County Emergency Management conducted tests on the storm sirens around town. The results showed that out of the six sirens, only two were operational. A contractor was called in to evaluate the situation, and they completed their assessment on Monday, April 15th in the afternoon. One of the broken sirens was able to be repaired, but plans are being made to fix the other non-functioning sirens. We must await a quote from the contractor for the necessary repairs before moving forward. It is important to remember that storm sirens are just one source of information and it is recommended to have multiple methods to stay informed about potential severe weather situations.
