On April 3, Varsity Voices—the auditioned choir of Kingfisher High School—traveled to Stillwater High School to compete in the OSSAA State Contest. The group advanced to State after receiving a Superior rating at the OSSAA District Contest held on March 12.
At State, the choir performed Cantate Domino by Giovanni Anerio, a challenging 12-page a cappella Renaissance piece, along with Stars I Shall Find by Victor C. Johnson. Choirs perform for a panel of three judges, and the final rating is determined by the average of their scores. Varsity Voices earned Superior ratings from all three judges.
The ensemble was highly praised for their tone quality, musical interpretation, clear Latin diction, and excellent balance and blend.
