Local Kingfisher resident Dennis Mueggenborg is currently in 3rd place in his group in the Favorite Chef competition, and he’s counting on community support to help him advance to the next round.
Dennis’ love of cooking started with his grandmother and mother, who always made meals that brought the family together. Over the years, that passion grew into a love for baking, which has become his specialty. His most requested treats are homemade pies, including apple, lemon, sour cream raisin, and coconut cream. Family recipes passed down through generations continue to inspire much of what he makes today.
The competition gives the public the chance to decide who will be featured in Taste of Home Magazine and take home the $25,000 grand prize. The winner will also have the opportunity to cook alongside celebrity chef Carla Hall on an episode of Chewed Up.
If Dennis wins, he hopes to take a cooking tour of Italy and share his passion for pie baking with others. He credits culinary icons like Julia Child and Ina Garten as inspirations throughout his cooking journey.
The first cut takes place on June 11, so every vote matters. Supporters can cast one free vote each day, or make an even bigger impact through donation votes that also support the James Beard Foundation and its mission to advance excellence in the culinary industry. VOTE HERE
