William (Bill) Joseph Jindra was born March 15th, 1947 to Frankie & Emmaline Thomsen Jindra. He was raised on the family farm East of Kingfisher which he proudly farmed all his life until his illness didn’t allow it anymore. Bill attended Big 4 School, graduating in 1965 and attended OU and Southwestern for a short time. He married Linda Layton on July 8th, 1966 in Kingfisher, and had 2 sons. Timmy & Barry Jindra. Bill went to work for Pioneer Telephone Coop in 1965, retiring on March 31st, 2010. Pioneer wasn’t just a place for him to work, it was part of his life and family history. His father also worked for Pioneer. Bill was very proud that he helped build the company, starting as a lineman after leaving college and working his way up from there and built many long lasting friendships while working there. Bill married Virginia Heskett on November 16th, 1991. Bill was an avid fisherman and bird hunter. He attended the Walleye Rodeo at Canton Lake every year and he & Virginia eventually bought a cabin there and spent many hours Walleye fishing with his family and friends. He loved anything OU and watched all the games, especially football. The Kingfisher Elks Lodge was important to Bill, just as it was to his father before him. He held many officer positions over the years including Exalted Ruler. Many hours were spent there discussing “business” with his Thomsen cousins and countless friends. The Rother Brothers and Wolf Brothers group were also a large part of his life, and yes, “business” was always conducted while there. Bill loved his children and grandchildren very much and was so proud of all they had accomplished. He may not have known how to say it, but it was evident in his actions.
Bill is survived by his wife of the home, 2 sons, Tim & wife Kim Jindra of Kingfisher, Barry and wife Shelly Jindra of Kingfisher. 3 stepsons, Willie & wife Penny Heskett of Houston, Tx.
