On Wednesday, June 18th, Kingfisher High School hosted six teams during their 7-on-7 Team Camp. The camp was a fun opportunity for the players to showcase their skills and hard work without contact while competing against other teams. The teams included Fairview, Minco, Guthrie, Weatherford, Crescent, and of course the host Kingfisher.
7-on-7 is played with each team having seven players against another team and is mainly focused on the quarterback passing game and the receivers refining their routes and catching the football. The game allows the teams to work on their skills similar to a game situation and work together as a team to achieve success on the field. Each team got an offensive drive while the other teams rotated their defense every 4 plays, keeping the competition fresh.
During the day, each player was able to show what they worked on in practice while showing their speed and doing what the coaches expected them to do. Each team’s coaches were in attendance to help each group, working out the players and helping them work together as a team, giving encouragement and tips while the players were working. Overall the camp was a great success and the young athletes had a fun day while working on their skills in preparation for the next football season. AAK Cam Griffin
