The Kingfisher High School and Junior High cross country teams competed Saturday at the Hennessey Cross Country Invitational, held at Oklahoma Bible Academy in Enid. The meet featured teams from across the region, with Kingfisher runners competing in four divisions.
In the High School Boys 5K, Kingfisher finished eighth in the team standings with 233 points. Kurttis Mark led the Yellowjackets with a 69th-place finish in 21:02.0, followed by Avery Burgess in 79th at 22:19.0. Cohen Wallace finished 112th at 26:33.0, Seth Marshall took 114th at 27:09.0, and Brantley Johnson finished 115th at 27:33.0.
The Kingfisher High School Girls turned in a sixth-place team finish in the 3,200-meter race with 137 points. Mattie Slezickey led the way, placing 11th with a time of 13:02.7, followed by Lily Lunsford in 17th at 13:23.1. Hinsley Brodrick finished 29th at 14:04.1. Roxana Padilla Granados placed 66th at 15:51.4, Rylee Longbush was 67th at 15:53.2, Gisselle Ponce finished 68th at 15:53.8, and Tayalei Rodd placed 76th with a time of 16:28.1.
Kingfisher also had four runners compete in the Junior High Boys 2,500-meter race. Shecotah Burpo led the group with a 19th-place finish in 10:22.7. Deacon Ryan placed 44th at 11:19.7, Deon Racelis finished 55th at 11:41.8, and Carson Burgess came in 72nd with a time of 12:38.2.
The Junior High Girls finished eighth as a team with 176 points in the 1,920-meter race. Olyvia Cooper paced Kingfisher with a 15th-place finish in 7:59.1, followed by Natalie Kirtley in 27th at 8:16.6. Patyn Kroener finished 60th at 9:13.5, Emily Mosely placed 67th at 9:20.3, and Maitlyn Tollefson was 81st at 9:53.2. Nadia Gomez followed in 83rd at 9:55.5, Hannah Warren finished 94th at 10:36.0, Aria Mathes placed 99th at 11:04.5, and Trinity Ruberstell rounded out Kingfisher’s runners in 103rd at 11:44.6.
Kingfisher will look to build on Saturday’s performances as the cross country season continues.
