Firefighters from three Kingfisher County departments were called out Thursday evening, Aug. 27, to battle another large grass fire.
At approximately 6 p.m., crews from Dover, Hennessey and Loyal were dispatched to an area near the intersection of E. 700 Road and N. 2830 Road, northwest of Dover.
The fire sent smoke across the area as flames burned through grass near a tree line. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it could spread farther.
N. 2830 Road was temporarily closed while firefighters used the blacktop as a staging area for water tankers supplying brush trucks working the fire. The Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office was called to assist with traffic control.
Kingfisher County Emergency Management was also on scene assisting with coordination efforts.
The call was another in a string of grass fires that have kept area fire departments busy as hot, dry conditions continue to increase the risk of fires across the area.
